A Europa que utilize eficazmente os recursos é uma das sete iniciativas emblemáticas que formam parte da estratégia “Europa 2020”, que pretende criar um crescimento inteligente, sustentável e inclusivo, sendo actualmente a principal estratégia da europeia para criar crescimento e emprego, com suporte do Parlamento Europeu e do Conselho Europeu. Esta iniciativa emblemática, pretende criar um quadro político, destinado a apoiar a mudança para uma economia eficiente no uso dos recursos, e de baixa emissão de carbono, que ajude a melhorar os resultados económicos, e simultaneamente reduza o uso dos recursos, identificar e criar novas oportunidades de crescimento económico, estimular a inovação e a competitividade da União Europeia (UE), garantir a segurança do fornecimento de recursos essenciais, lutar contra as alterações climáticas e reduzir os impactos ambientais do uso dos recursos.

MYTH 1: ISIS is crazy and irrational

If you want to understand the Islamic State, better known as ISIS, the first thing you have to know about them is that they are not crazy. Murderous adherents to a violent medieval ideology, sure. But not insane. Look at the history of ISIS's rise in Iraq and Syria. From the mid-2000s through today, ISIS and its predecessor group, al-Qaeda in Iraq, have had one clear goal: to establish a caliphate governed by an extremist interpretation of Islamic law. ISIS developed strategies for accomplishing that goal - for instance, exploiting the grievances non-extremist Sunni Iraqis have with their Shia-dominated government. Its tactics have evolved over the course of time in response to military defeats (as in 2008 in Iraq) and new opportunities (the Syrian civil war).

O sistema de controlo de fronteiras europeu teve fortes probabilidades de se estalar em pedaços, após a reunião a 7 de Março de 2016, entre a União Europeia (UE) e a Turquia. Estava em causa o problema dos imigrantes, pois mais de cinquenta mil refugiados da Síria e do Iraque inquietam a Grécia, que não sabe o destino a dar-lhes, enquanto os países próximos, liderados pela Áustria, constroem barreiras físicas e impõem rígidos controlos. O primeiro-ministro inglês e o presidente francês, entretanto, reuniram-se na França, por causa das comemorações relativas ao centenário aniversário da batalha do Somme, a mais sangrenta da I Guerra Mundial.
